Wednesday, June 16Arrive in Puerto Rico via SJU airport in San Juan. Settle in and get situated. Recommended hotel TBD. Keep in mind that bad weather or other unforeseen issues could delay your flight. Thursday, June 17Explore the nearby surroundings! Old San Juan and nearby beaches can offer an outstanding introduction to the island. In the evening, members of the wedding party have a planned rehearsal dinner, time and location TBD. Friday, June 18Wedding day! Bus schedule and wedding time TBD. Saturday, June 19Morning brunch time and location TBD. Continue exploring nearby locations around San Juan or head out to El Yunque in the afternoon. Sunday, June 20After a final goodbye to the island of enchantment, head home!

Beaches

Playa El Combate - A long and lazy beach on the west coast. With calm and warm water, you can spend a whole day lounging around. Playa Frontera - A secret secluded beach on the south coast. Come for seclusion and the nearby Guanica Dry Forest. Playa Azul - A beach near the venue and Luquillo on the northeast coast. Come for the beach and stick around to try out everything Luquillo has to offer.

Food and Drinks

Panadería España - Located in Isla Verde near the airport, this bakery offers delicious coffee, pastries, and breakfast staples with Spanish inspiration. El Batey Bar - A true Old San Juan institution, El Batey is a laid-back cash-only dive bar famous for the graffiti-covered walks. Kioskos de Luquillo - Located on the north side of the island near the venue, the kioskos are a set of small restaurant and shops along the beach. Wander through and let your nose guide you. Try the carne frita and the tostones! Ricomini Bakery - A chain of bakeries on the west side of the island, stop in for a coffee and the island's best quesito pastry. Casa Vieja - For the adventurous, head into the central mountains to a converted old house serving authentic food and music. Try the famous crema de pastel for a delicious twist on pasteles, a classic Puerto Rican dish.

History and Culture

Old San Juan - Navigate around one of the oldest towns in the Americas. Colorful old homes in a tropical setting. Don't forget a coffee and pastry in the Plaza de Armas! El Morro - Walk around and inside an old Spanish fort that's changed hands over the centuries. For the best views, head toward the old city entrance of La Garita and walk the path around the fort along the ocean. Arecibo Observatory - Drive out to the stunning landscapes near Arecibo to find the (now unused) Arecibo Radio Observatory. Active for decades as one of the biggest radio telescopes in the world. Famous for starring in the film "Contact". Lares - Located on the west side of the island, little Lares is tucked in the mountains and is known as a major location for early independence movements. Come for the ridiculous ice cream flavors at Heladeria Lares and stay for the history lesson located within.

Nature and Adventure

El Yunque National Forest - The only tropical rainforest in the US Forest System, El Yunque offers numerous hiking trails through the rainforest, scenic waterfalls, and stunning mountain views. Guánica State Forest - One of the world's best preserved subtropical dry forests located on the south side of the island. Discover unique desert-like landscapes, hiking trails, and coastal views. Be on the lookout for the Guayacán Centenario, believed to be the oldest tree on the island at over 700 years old. Cañón Blanco - For the truly adventurous, head into the central mountains and find a beautiful river canyon with distinctive white limestone formations.
